Printing Workflow
11) Load your paper into the printer. Make sure the Roll Paper w/ Cut icon is visible. Make Sure you are using Photo Black ink (on the 4900)
22) Open your Master file. (Unflattened .psd file with all of your adjustment layers)
33) Flatten your file (Open dropdown menu at upper right of the Layers panel, select ‘Flatten Image’
4) Resize
a. Image à Image Size
b. Make sure ‘Resample Image’ is unchecked. For a print, we want at least 300dpi. Resize your image to 11”x17” (or close to it). If your file is too small, and will not allow for 300dpi, cjeck ‘Resample Image’ and change the size accordingly. This is not ideal, as it will ‘up-sample’ your image, adding pixels, and thereby lessening the quality. Whenever possible, do not resample.

5) Add Screen Compensation
a. Duplicate the layer (Open dropdown menu at upper right of Layers panel, select ‘Duplicate Layer’
b. Change Blending Mode to ‘Screen’ . (Open dropdown menu at upper left of the Layers panel. Default is Normal. Scroll down and select ‘Screen”)
c. Change layer opacity to between 10 to 15 %

6) Print! ( File à Print )
a. Print dialog box will open up. First, click the “Print Settings’ button.
b. Make sure Printer: is set to either Epson Stylus Pro 4800 or 4900, whichever one you are printing on. Leave Presets on “Default’
c. Click the ‘Paper Size’ dropdown menu and choose your paper size. Choose 16x20 (Roll Paper). This will give your 11x17 image a nice border to work with.
d. In the dropdown menu, that says “layout” scroll down to ‘Print Settings’ Media Type à Premium Luster Photo Paper (250). Print Quality à Super Photo – 2880dpi. Uncheck ‘High Speed’
e. Click ‘Save’
f. On the left side of the Print dialog box:
Color Handling: Make sure ‘Photoshop Manages colors’
Printer Profile: Pro4800 PLPP
Rendering Intent: Perceptual or Relative Colormetric (both are suitable for B&W prints)
Check ‘Black Point Compensation
g. Click Print!!

7) The printer will start up and begin printing your image. After it is finished, the printer should cut the paper for you. If it doesn’t, hold down the bottom middle button (cut paper) for three seconds. The printer will then manually cut your paper. In the finishing room, use the print trimmers to cut down your prints if you wish. This is totally up to you and if you prefer not to trip the borders yet, that is fine
